Declawing

We strongly recommend not declawing your cat. The unnecessary procedure amputates the first knuckle on a cats paw. This removal can lead to lifelong pain in your cats paws and even behavioral changes. This unnecessary procedure seems silly when their are plenty of alternatives that will not cause pain for your pet. In the past, we have had perfectly litter trained cats adopted, only to be returned after the adopter had them declawed and the cat refused to use their litter box. These cats often live the rest of their lives here at the shelter, most people do not want a cat that does not use the litter box.
